Photography is a balm for my soul. When I’m feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, irritated, or stressed out, simply driving down the road to my favorite spot, parking my van and standing there photographing the sunset can be enough to return the stillness within. As I’m shooting, I also take a moment to simply watch the beauty unfolding before my eyes, enjoy the peace, listen to the melody of the frogs, smell the fragrant air, and let the tranquil scene calm me.
Whether it’s a pond in the early morning, sunset, moonrise, or a walk in the woods, whatever I am shooting infuses me with a sense of peace and serenity that I do not find in most other areas of my life. Being able to not only have the opportunity to experience these situations under the guise of photography, but also to have the satisfaction of seeing what I was feeling in those moments come to life, is a fulfillment to me like no other.
