Christmas Day here around my house is a pretty laid back affair these days. When I was a kid, we were always busy on Christmas Day. We would get up and open our presents (when we were young enough to still believe in Santa Clause), get ready and then head out to my mom’s family’s gathering. Now we don’t have a family gathering that takes place on Christmas Day anymore, so we get to relax that day. I will admit, sometimes I miss having anything going on that day, but I have found that I really like the relaxed atmosphere and non-rushing, non-frustrating day. Our plans for this year are to make the kids wait to get up until 9am like usual, open Santa gifts, let me take lots of digital photos of the kids, eat our breakfast of cinnamon rolls or doughnuts (whichever is the preference because we have both) and oj, then spend the rest of the day relaxing, perusing some online catalogs to see if they want to spend any Christmas money they received that way, watching movies, playing any new Wii games, and snacking on other non-healthy food all day, and watching the kids make customized single pieces of Christmas art. What can I say, we enjoy it.

Here are a few more ways in which I procrastinated the other night rather than doing what I was supposed to…

1) Checked Amazon to see if such a thing as tent air conditioners really do exist. (The heat and humidity during our 4th of July campout was atrocious this year.)

2) Thought of all the ways in which I have procrastinated tonight.

3) Drank my 504th cup of Dr Pepper 10.

4) Chose which photo of my kids to have digitally printed on shirts. There’s nothing in this world that compares to embarrassing your kids. Mwahahaha!

5) Checked my blog stats to see if anyone is reading my blog.

I see you . . .

6) Checked the radar to see if we have any storms headed this way tonight. Doesn’t look like it.

7) Debated the merits of having custom silk screen printing versus digital printing done on a shirt. I thought it was a good debate. I won by the way.

8) Chewed on my fingernails.

9) Twiddled my thumbs.

10) Checked the Dust Buster to make sure it was charging properly. You never know when you might need the Dust Buster.

11) Looked on the internet to see if I could find out what a shrew sounds like. Don’t ask.

12) Looked up inspirational quotes that would inspire me to stop procrastinating and get my work done.

13) Decided which of those quotes to have digitally printed and framed so it can sit on my desk in front of my face every day as I continue to ignore it and procrastinate.

As I was watching through the seasons I had figured out which captain it was, and then when I actually got to that point in the series it really got to me. t-shirts and sweatshirts I made sure to watch those last several episodes by myself because I figured I would get pretty emotional and I didn’t feel like having my kids watch me bawl my eyes out while watching a TV show.
