How Straight Does a Fence Really Need to Be?

Last year, Darling Hubby had the idea to collect deadwood and make a fence out of it around our four acre property. He’s been collecting for awhile and recently, while I was at the grocery store, he started digging holes and setting his posts. I came home to see various pieces of wood sticking up out of the ground along one side of our yard. As I walked toward it to check it out, I thought to myself that it looked fine, and as I got closer, I continued thinking that he had done a decent job on it, but as I got to the end of it and looked down the row of fence posts, I noticed something a bit off. Like the fence posts. My poor hubby’s fence was meandering. He had not set up any kind of line to follow, and it showed. As I looked down the new row of fence posts, many of which that were a foot or two off from where they should have been, I just had to laugh. I pointed out his blunder, to which he responded, “Any fool could’ve done that drunk. I did it stone-cold sober!” I then told him that I HAD to post this on Facebook. I just HAD to. It was just too good to pass up! He laughed, and as he was walking away, I shouted behind him, “And I’m posting PICTURES!” So I got my camera, took pictures of the crooked fence, and then drew a line where the fence SHOULD have gone with Photoshop, just to make sure all of my dear Facebook friends could see just how far off he was. I’m horrible aren’t I? I have to admit, though, as funny as I found (and still find) the fence, I am glad it’s in a far corner of our property. I can not look at that crooked fence everyday, because I fear if I do, my OCD sensibilities would never recover.
