Due to popular demand, we are rolling out (and testing) two different approaches to providing 1-1 coaching for web designers and developers. We hosted a preview webinar last week outlining the two programs. This also supports our Make Waves 2012 initiative to help (at least) 10 web design freelancers go full time in their own businesses.
The first coaching option, the one-on-one coaching with Cory Miller in a public format, will occur on 3 Wednesdays, April 11, 18 and 25, 6-7:30PM Central Time. There is no cost to participate in this beta program.
If you would like to be selected to be one of the three people to receive the one-on-one coaching, make sure you have completed the Going Pro Survey. Participants will be selected from those who have completed the survey.
The sessions will be open to members of WebDesign.com to listen in, and recordings will be made available in the WebDesign.com library.
The second coaching option announced was the one-on-one coaching with Benjamin Bradley. This is private, one-on-one coaching – no one else will be listening in. If you are interested in this, please contact us and let us know coaching topics or areas of support will be most helpful for you.
We’re excited about rolling out these new ways of providing support to our members. Watch the video and slideshow to learn more about the specifics and why we are doing this.

Japan’s Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences has created an unusual camera that lets you take photographs with your hands. Digiinfo.tv reports that the Ubi-Camera lets you frame the photographs with your hands when you take them. The camera device is attached to your finger and the shutter is pressed when you push hard with your thumb. Framing is calculated by the camera by determining the distance between the camera and the photographer’s face. Take a look:

I fear I am boring everyone I know with talk and information about the aurora borealis phenomenon. Ever since I first saw the highly detailednorthern lights here in Iowa back in November of 2004, I have found them fascinating. But because I figured they were pretty
rare here I didn’t really get into being an aurora follower back then. Then just this past October, I saw them again here in Iowa. Again, I was completely fascinated but figured it would be a long time, if ever, that I would see them again. So again, I didn’t become an aurora follower (I just hoped that I would get lucky enough to see them again at a later date if they ever happened to be visible down this way again). Then just last week, the northern hemisphere was treated to an amazing aurora show. And although I personally didn’t get to witness them, I have been astounded by the photos I’ve been finding online showing the beauty that was seen. As a result, NOW I have become an aurora follower. It turns out that it is possible that I might have been able to see a bit of the aurora on the northern horizon last week if the skies had been clear (which they weren’t). So along with signing up to receive text alerts when the aurora activity level is high enough that I might be able to see something, I have also been perusing space/science websites learning all about them. And of course, being the talker that I am, I have been regurgitating a vast majority of the information that I have learned to my family and friends. The only problem is that they are not nearly as interested as I am, so I think it’s time to cool it a bit with the aurora talk, so I don’t bore them all into a stupor. I should just wear a sign that says, “I love the auroras. Got questions? Just ask. I may or may not be able to give you an answer.”
